Autumn Owl Wreath

"A wise old owl sat on an oak..."   Owls and more Owls.  Go to a store and you see "Owls" on napkins, treat bags, pillow cases, blankets and made out of just about everything from felt to metal.  This inspiration came from using materials that I had around the house.  You take a simple flat floral wreath form, yarn, felt, burlap flower clip and an owl.  That's it - this took about thirty minutes to make. Nothing fancy and quick.

A Longing for Fall and The November $25 Giveaway

It was November the months of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea,  passionate wind-songs in the pines.    L.M. Montgomery

It is November 8th and while many are bundled in front of fires and listening to the hush of the fallen snow--- here it is 74 degrees and my flower garden is alive with the flutter of butterflies.  The wind is blowing, the chimes sing softly, the leaves rustle and a few trees burst with red and orange ---but it does not feel like fall --- for it is too warm for sweaters and the air conditioner blows a steady breeze in the house.  The sprinklers water the grass in need of a long rain and summer flowers are still in bloom.   But fall and Thanksgiving are upon us none the less.  Today a fresh baked pumpkin cake fills the house with the aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg, a candle of apple/cinnamon burns softly and decorations added to the fireplace, mantel and table add a touch of fall to at least the inside.

Fall is for......

hayrides, apple cider, scarecrows, sweaters, football, crisp early mornings, pumpkins, raking of leaves, spooky nights, acorns, the crunch and rustle of leaves and the turning of foliage to yellow, orange, and red

A touch of fall can easily be added to your home with simple and inexpensive items using kidney beans, split green peas, corn, ribbon or twine and Halloween candy.  Gather your empty jars or vases and see where your creativity leads you.

Best of all using what you have on hand---it cost under $15.00
 to create five fall arrangements.
